* NCAA These evaluations are are being performed for University Lacrosse as an operator of a
non-institutional instructional camp that is not associated with the University of Maryland or any of its
athletic departments, other than as a lessee of the University's recreational facilities. NCAA rules
dictate that such activities can be hosted on a member campus, and that member caoches can
evaluate at such non-institutional instructional camps provided: 1) they are run by 3rd parties and not
the member institution; 2) their dates do not conflict with Divisional calendar restrictions; and, 3) their
activities do not include agility, flexibility, speed or strength testing. Last year, and in some of our
current Sports Notices published in local papers, these evaluations were termed Combines and
Tryouts, but due to recent NCAA Rule changes (most particularly as a result of football interests), those
terms are no longer applicable. For further clarification on applicable NCAA rules as they apply to
these activities, you may contact the NCAA National Office at 700 West Washington Street, Indianapolis
Indiana 46206, or by phone at 317/917-6222.
Groupings .For these evaluations, initial player groupings will be done by skill &
experience levels, based upon the initial information each player provides. Varsity A Players will be
grouped with Varsity A Players, B with B, etc. Real differentiation will show up on the field, not on
paper. If adjustments need be made, they will be done on the day of the evaluations based upon
individual personal performance.
** Purpose These evaluations will be used to help determine what individual player needs
might be in terms of further instruction as well as to assist in determining what level of club team play
would be appropriate for each player. Participants are required to identify which club team
organization they prefer to associate with. Final evaluations and recommendations will be turned over
to the appropriate club team organizations as the basis for club team placement and these results will
viewed as tryout results for the club teams involved..
